an ideal flow to paddle this is at about 35cms.
River Access
Put In
go south from Cardston and turn onto Hwy 501. follow 501 until you cross the river then turn right(W) on the road directly after the bridge. just keep on going there will be brown signs with a canoe follow those and it will take you to a public access point to the river.
Take Out
the take out is the bridge on Hwy 501.

Note you must always check the flow before going on this because it is below the St Mary Dam and thus the flow is too low to paddle most of the season

River Access
Put In
from Magrath go (South/West) on Hwy 5 until you reach township road 52. turn right(West) on township road 52 follow to the end.
Take Out
the take out is only a few miles from the put in at the end of township road 55. park on the side of the road and you must walk from the river up the hill to the vehicles
